Law of relative superiority! Why we wear watches where (which hand) we wear!

The theory of relative superiority states that being superior is not always good, most of the time, the superior one is just used. Converse is not true.

I was going to the railway station to pick a friend of mine. I haven’t been to that station earlier, so I didn’t know the way. But of course where there is a will there is a way. But wait, isn’t that now changed to “where there is a web, there is a way”! 🙂 So I went to the web for help, Google to be precise. maps.google.com and found the way. Got the picture in my mind, took the car and left. I got confused at one intersection, so I called up another friend of mine, cos that friend is the one who had the will.. err.. web. That friend couldn’t read maps ( I’m sure you must’ve guessed the sex of my friend by now :)). She couldn’t read the legends and so, couldn’t help me. Now had to go old school “where there is a WILL, there is a way”! So I asked around and managed to reach the station.

Oh! About the watch… 🙂
The law of relative superiority!
Before reaching the station, the traffic was slow and I had time to “think”. That’s when it stuck. If you are “brighter” a.k.a intelligent (relatively) than someone, it’s hard to get help from that some one. But when they need any help, you (considering you are intelligent) are able to help them. This is why, at time, the relatively intelligent feel used and there’s no gain. Inference : the theory of relative superiority states that being superior is not always good, most of the time, the superior one is just used. Converse is not true.

Oh! about the watch..
And coming to the right hand, left hand principle. I’m not gonna use the word “right” here because of its multiple meaning. So I’ll use “right” hand only when I mean the hand other than the left hand. And I’ll use the “correct” hand, which will mean the right hand for the right handers and the left hand for the left handers. Now that has been defined let’s get right (:)) into the matter.

It is easy for a right handed girl to wax her left hand than the right hand. Cos the correct hand (in this case the right hand) is more controllable than the other hand. So its easier to out the strips and take it off easily. So the other hand gets the work done (meaning clean waxed) but when waxing is to be done on the correct hand, it becomes a challenge due to the uncontrollable (less skilled) other hand. Becomes harder to put the strips on the correct hand – the law of relative superiority! 🙂

Coming to the watch. This is the reason why right handed people wear watch on the left hand and the left handed people wear the watch on the right hand. Cos its easier to tie the watch on the other hand with the correct hand than tying it on the correct hand with the other hand.
